Scope:

The Municipal Code record group contains bound volumes, supplements, and chapter code publications of The City of Oklahoma City Municipal Code, 1909 – 2012. These publications represent the codification process of ordinances adopted by City Council. Bound volumes of the Municipal Code have been published by The City of Oklahoma City since 1906 with updates in 1913, 1928, 1936, 1948, 1960, 1970, 1980, 1993, 1999, 2002, 2007 and 2010. Supplements containing code revisions were published in the intervening years. Each bound volume of The Oklahoma City Municipal Code contains The City of Oklahoma City Charter. Indexes are separately published volumes corresponding to an annual supplement or bound code volume.

History:

The Civil and Criminal Ordinances passed by The City of Oklahoma City Council are codified as the Oklahoma City Municipal Code. The additions and modifications reflected in the code give an historical view of changes in the laws of the community. The City Charter dictates the publication and maintencance of the code, the Office of the City Clerk is responsible for overseeing the process and distributing copies.
